From October 27 to November 7, 2025, JePPIX organizes the annual PIC Design Course in Eindhoven. This intensive training combines theory and practice around integrated photonic circuits (PICs) and is intended for engineers and researchers who want to design their first multi-project wafer (MPW).
The course takes place at the Academic Society (Parklaan 93, Eindhoven) and offers participants an in-depth introduction to the entire design and manufacturing process of photonic integrated circuits.
Under the guidance of experienced designers, participants will learn about:
Basic principles of integrated photonics and modular design
Layout and simulation methods for optical components
Use of Process Design Kits (PDKs) from foundry partners
Practical hands-on sessions with CAD tools
Understanding manufacturing tolerances and testing methods during lab visits
The course is aimed at engineers, PhD students, and R&D professionals looking to enhance their design skills or realize their first PIC design.
In addition to the technical program, the course also offers social and networking opportunities, including a city tour of Eindhoven and networking drinks on the TU/e campus.
Costs & registration
The participation costs are € 3,600, met een early-bird-tarief van € 3,000 when registering before 31 July 2025.
The PIC Design Course provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice within the European photonics community.
JePPIX, as a partner within the CCCNL consortium, plays a key role in developing knowledge and skills that are essential for innovation within the semiconductor and photonics industry.
