On 29 October 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET, aCCCess hosts the fourth webinar in its series on the technology offers of European pilot lines. This session focuses on integrated photonics and access to a photonics pilot line. The PIXEurope pilot line and the Spanish competence centre PIXSpain show what they offer companies and research organisations.
What does PIXEurope offer?
PIXEurope is a European pilot line for integrated photonics. It provides open access to the full development path of photonic integrated circuits (PICs): from fabrication and packaging to testing and validation. Its services include prototyping through Multi-Project Wafer runs, access to advanced equipment, collaborative R&D projects and training.
PIXEurope brings together 20 institutions from 11 European countries. The Dutch partners are TNO, TU/e and MESA+ NanoLab at the University of Twente.
What does PIXSpain do?
According to the organisers, PIXSpain is the only European Chips Competence Centre dedicated exclusively to photonic integrated circuits. It links the needs of the Spanish photonics ecosystem with European PIC infrastructure. In the webinar, coordinator Pascual Muñoz and director Valentina Díaz explain how to collaborate with PIXSpain.
Programme
10:00: aCCCess introduction, Laure de Tassigny (Minalogic)
10:05: PIXEurope technology and open access services, Marina Santana (ICFO)
10:25: introduction to PIXSpain, Pascual Muñoz (Universitat Politècnica de València)
10:35: routes to collaboration, Valentina Díaz (Universitat Politècnica de València)
10:45: Q&A
Why this matters for the Netherlands
For Dutch companies this pilot line is close to home: three of its partners are Dutch. For startups and SMEs that want to develop or test a photonic chip, the first question is often where access to a pilot line begins. The webinar covers which services exist and how competence centres work together.
About the aCCCess webinar series
aCCCess connects the Chips Competence Centres across Europe. Each session in this series spotlights one pilot line and one competence centre, with a focus on collaboration and user experiences. The series answers three questions:
What are pilot lines and how can you access their services?
Which microelectronics resources exist in Europe and how can you use them?
Do the European competence centres offer complementary services?
Role of ChipNL CC
ChipNL Competence Centre (ChipNL CC) is the Dutch Chips Competence Centre under the EU Chips Act and helps startups, SMEs and research organisations find their way to technology and pilot lines. As part of the European network of Chips Competence Centres, we bring this webinar to the attention of Dutch companies and research organisations.
Questions about access to PIXEurope or another pilot line after the webinar? Send us a message and we will think along with you. You can also visit our page on pilot lines or read more about internationalisation.
